The Municipality of Chios is preparing a fresh, dynamic cultural extroversion action for this summer, entitled Chios on tour 2025.
In particular, the program aims to bring visitors, as well as the Chionians themselves, closer to the rich history, monuments and natural beauty of the island, through 25 organized tours that will take place from August 2 to September 15.
The tours will be conducted by certified guides or escorts, with the aim of entertaining, but valid and substantial, knowledge transfer. Without tedious analyses and meticulous historical lectures, visitors will learn about local history, everyday life, monuments, natural landscapes, and most importantly, the small human stories that have shaped the cultural character of Chios.
Routes and points of interest:
The program includes guided tours in selected areas of the island, such as the following:
South Chios: Olympos Cave – Vessa – Lithi
North Chios: Volissos – Agios Galas (Polychoros, Cave and Panagia Agiogalousaina)
Central/South Chios: Nea Moni – Avgonyma – Anavatos
North Chios (additionally): Volissos – Kefalas Estate – Holy Waters
A tourism tool with multiple benefits
The Chios on tour 2025 action is not limited to the simple organization of guided tours. It is a strategic investment in cultural and experiential tourism, which highlights and protects the cultural heritage of Chios. At the same time, it encourages participants to act as ambassadors of the island, sharing their experiences with friends, relatives and social media.
It is noted that at the end of each route, participants will have the opportunity to learn about the annual cultural activities of the Municipality, such as the Mastic Festival, the New Year’s Boats, the Rocket War, etc.
An open door to travelers, an opportunity for residents
The action is primarily aimed at tourists who wish to “see behind the postcards”, but it is also open to Chians, who want to (re)discover their place through a different lens.
With a modern approach, interactive character and respect for the island’s cultural identity, Chios on tour 2025 aspires to establish itself as an innovative initiative of the Municipality of Chios, with a clear imprint on the tourist and cultural life of the place.
