With the support of the Greek National Tourism Organization, the annual international conference Overseas Conference 2025 of Hays Travel, the largest independent travel agency in the United Kingdom with more than 500 high street stores and approximately 4,500 employees, is taking place in the Peloponnese from November 10th.
The event is hosted at the Aldemar Olympian Village complex, near Ancient Olympia, thanks to an excellent initiative by the Aldemar Group and Alexandros Angelopoulos, as well as the Region of Western Greece, with the aim of promoting Western Greece in the British tourism market and strengthening the region’s air connectivity with the United Kingdom.
More than 1,500 delegates are participating in this year’s Hays Travel conference.
A. Fiorentinos: Need to expand Greek destinations from the British market
At the opening of the conference, the Secretary General of the Hellenic National Tourism Organization, Andreas Fiorentinos, extended a warm welcome to the British tour operators, emphasizing the symbolic importance of the location of the conference, near Ancient Olympia, a place of global cultural influence. In addition, he referred to the importance of sustainability in tourism, personal contact with the traveler and the promotion of alternative forms of tourism, beyond the traditional “sun and sea” model.
He also emphasized the need to expand the Greek destinations chosen by the British market, with the aim of promoting authentic regions with a special identity and experiences throughout the year.
The British market remains one of the most important for Greek tourism. According to the latest available data, arrivals to our country from the United Kingdom in the period January – August 2025 reached approximately 3.3 million, showing an increase of 4.5%, while receipts increased by 8.7%, reaching 2.5 million euros. These figures contribute to strengthening the general assessment that this year is expected to set a new record for Greek tourism.
The Hays Travel Overseas Conference 2025 will conclude next Monday, November 17, 2025.
