The Hotel Association of Crete expresses its satisfaction with the inclusion of the Kissamos – Chania road section in the concession agreement of the Northern Crete Road Axis (N.C.R.A.), describing the development as of decisive importance for Western Crete and the island as a whole.
In a letter to the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Christos Dimas, with copies sent to the Governor of Crete, Stavros Arnaoutakis, and the island’s Members of Parliament, the Association emphasizes that this decision constitutes a substantial step toward improving road safety, upgrading transport infrastructure, and, at the same time, strengthening the tourism and economic development of Crete.
Meanwhile, the Hotel Association of Crete highlights the need for the overall planning of the island’s critical road projects to proceed without delays, in order to ensure balanced developmental prospects across all regional units. At this point, it should be noted that special importance is given to the completion of the Pahia Ammos Bypass, a project of key significance for safe and rapid access to Ierapetra and Sitia, as well as to the completion of studies already commissioned for the N.C.R.A. section up to Sitia.
At the same time, to reinforce this, the Association prioritizes the inclusion of the Chania airport connection with the N.C.R.A. within the concession agreement, emphasizing its importance for the functionality of the axis and the service of millions of visitors annually. Special reference is also made to the need for the implementation of the Kalo Chorio Bypass and the Frouzi Bridge in the Lasithi region.
The Hotel Association of Crete expresses confidence that, with the decisive contribution of the political leadership of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, the above projects can advance, completing a modern and safe road network worthy of Crete’s importance as a leading tourist and developmental destination.
The Association states that it remains at the disposal of the competent authorities for any cooperation that will contribute to the sustainable development of Greek hospitality and the enhancement of safety for the island’s residents and visitors.
