In a move to increase transparency and build trust in the platform, Airbnb is globally introducing the final price, including all charges (before tax), right from the accommodation search stage.
This change marks the evolution of an effort that began in 2019, initially in select markets such as Europe, Australia, Canada, and South Korea, and then expanded through an optional setting tested in more than 200 countries. To date, nearly 17 million guests have chosen to display the total price via the relevant “switch,” demonstrating the demand for clearer pricing.
Now, every user of the platform will be able to see the total cost of a reservation (excluding taxes where applicable) directly from the search results. This feature makes the selection process more transparent and allows for more direct comparisons between accommodations, making it easier for travelers to choose based on their available budget.
Benefits for hosts too
Airbnb emphasizes that transparency benefits not only guests but also hosts, as it helps improve the overall experience. Already, more than four in five hosts have taken advantage of at least one of the available pricing tools, such as offers, discounts, price tips, and comparisons with similar listings in their area.
At the same time, guests can now receive suggestions for saving money, for example, through discounts for longer stays or adding extra nights.
A Clearer Marketplace for Everyone
Airbnb is committed to its role as a leader in price transparency, emphasizing that clear information is critical to a positive experience for both travelers and hosts. The introduction of final pricing on the global platform reaffirms this commitment and aims to further strengthen the growth of the Airbnb community internationally.
