Athens International Airport celebrates International Children’s Day with a 3-day event on December 11, 12 and 13.
For three days, a big floor chessboard sets up its 64 black and white squares for horses, queens and kings take their places and engage in fierce and unpredictable chess duels!
“Let me Play” is the latest interactive event of the “Fly me to the Moon” program organized by the airport and elculture cultural platform and described as follows:

Third year in a row
The flights up… to the moon for the audience and the passengers of the Athens International Airport continue for the third year in a row! “Fly me to the Moon”, cultural programme, a multidimensional experience including concerts, happenings and other art projects by popular bands and artists, after its successful course for two seasons since May 2013, packs for one more year our luggage with music, arts as well as… floor games!
The Athens State Orchestra, the Greek National Opera, the Music Village,“His Majesty the King of Spain”, MeliosBalkana Mama, Zoe Tiganouria, Angelika Dusk, along with IliasKarellas Theater Company and Dimitri Vassilakis’ jazz orchestra as well as unexpected dance events in Tango rhythms, compose the new “Fly me to the Moon” programme for the passengers and the visitors of Athens International Airport.
“Fly me to the Moon”…
“Fly me to the Moon”, is a joint collaboration between the Athens International Airport and elculture platform of contemporary culture, including two main sections: The popular Music Port, featuring Music Fridays and Perform in Art, where young artists, getting inspired by the space of the airport, improvise and invite the public to an original musical, artistic or even dance… experience!
…and “Let me Play!”
In this year’s version of “Fly me to the Moon”, the experience becomes even more interactive through the new section “Let me Play!”, which will surprise pleasantly the passengers and the visitors of the airport, inviting them to have fun with the floor games!
