The Holy Light arrived at the international airport of Eleftherios Venizelos in Athens, Saturday, a little after 8 pm.
The Holy Light arrived in Greece on the PM’s airplane and was greeted with honours reserved for state leaders.
The brief official ceremonial reception was followed by speeches by clergy and political officials, among whom were Defence Minster Panos Kammenos, Deputy Foreign Minister John Amanatidis and government spokesperson Olga Gerovasili.
After it touched ground at the Athens airport, the Holy Light was transferred to 17 destinations across Greece via ‘Olympic Air’ and ‘Aegean’ air flights, including to all the Greek islands.
