Greece has failed to each the grand final of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.
Representing the country in the competition’s first semi final Tuesday night, the Thessaloniki-based group Argo was among 18 acts vying for a place in the May 14 final, which is this year hosted in Stockholm.
Fusing rap with the traditional Pontian lyra, the Greek entry called “Utopian Land” contained references to the country’s financial meltdown and the ongoing refugee crisis.
It is the first time Greece has failed to reach the final.
The second semi final takes place on Thursday.
