A few months ago, Tina Fey announced that a musical adaptation of her hit comedy “Mean Girls” was on its way, and now the production is officially scheduled to premiere in Washington DC in the fall of 2017.
The news was announced on Twitter and Facebook by the official “Mean Girls” accounts today, October 3rd, which has actually been designated annual “Mean Girls” day.
Fans of the cult comedy classic were thrilled at the news of more “Mean Girls” coming into their lives soon. The original film, which starred Lindsay Lohan and Rachel McAdams, became a smash after a slow initial start, thanks to its unique, hilarious take on high school cliques and friendships.
Though we don’t yet know if the show will continue to Broadway after its premiere, it’s good to know that the musical adaptation is no longer a dream, and will soon be on stage in a US theater.
