Onassis Cultural Centre to host the Youth Theater Festival 2017 in Athens

Teenagers take the lead once again this year, as their thoughts and voices are expressed in new works by playwrights from Greece and abroad. The Youth Theatre Festival strikes again!

This year’s event, addressed to middle and high school students, has teenagers tackling contemporary Greek and international plays in accordance with the law of ‘5s’, meaning that:

-5 contemporary Greek playwrights are to write 5 new plays.

-5 celebrated contemporary works from abroad are to be added to the Festival’s repertory.

-5 young directors are to work with the Grasshopper Youth company to bring to life, direct and stage new teenage productions.

The playwrights will work with the teenage groups in class for around a month. Using their expertise, they will help the teenage participants express the thoughts and quests of their age group in the works that emerge from the intensive workshop. Then they will spring into action, joining forces with the students, directors and actors to stage the productions we will be seeing on the OCC’s Upper Stage.

When: 7-9 April (Festival)
