Athens Concert Hall exhibits celebrate the centennial of Maria Callas’ birth
Two exhibits of memorabilia and costumes related to Maria Callas (1923-1977) are held at the Megaron Athens Concert Hall until January 30, 2024, to commemorate the centennial of the legendary soprano’s birth.
The exhibit “Goodnight, I Love You” shows aspects of Callas’ personality on and off stage and takes its name from a phrase she used to tell her house staff. Curated by Lili Pezanou, the exhibition includes memorabilia and costumes from the collection of Nikos Charalambopoulos. It is open Monday-Sunday, 10:00-18:00 (Christos Lambrakis ground-level foyer).
“Callas’ magic” is based on books, programs, audiovisual material, and databases in the permanent collection of the Athens Concert Hall, particularly its Music Library of Greece ‘Lilian Voudouri’. Curated by musicologist Gabriella Spano, the exhibition includes archival material from the donated collection of Constantine and Victoria Pylarinou and of bass Nikos Zachariou.
It is open as follows: Monday-Friday (except Wednesday), 10:00-16:45, Wednesday, 10:00-19:00 (‘Lilian Voudouri’ library foyer).
