Greek Culture Minister hosts Turkish counterpart for ‘Romeo and Juliet’ premiere

Turkey’s Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy visits Greece to attend the premiere of “ Romeo and Juliet” in Athens with Culture Minister Lina Mendoni, ANA reports.

Mendoni stated that she and her Turkish counterpart discussed all issues related to cultural exchanges between the two countries. “ Following the recent meeting between President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Ersoy’s presence here marks the intention of the two countries to develop their relations in both the fields of culture and tourism,’ said Mendoni from the Acropolis Museum, where she met with her Turkish counterpart.

Ersoy spoke about the opportunity they had to attend jointly with Mendoni the performance “ Romeo and Juliet,” a co-production and partnership of Greek and Turkish artists.

Ersoy also referred to “ the agreement reached between the two countries on visa issuance facilitation. The visa issued at the entrance gate of Greece created a very positive climate, and a large number of Turkish visitors began to flock to the Greek islands for which this facility has been made,” he said, adding that Turkey expects Greek visitors and tourists to visit Turkey. The indications, as he said from the first 3-4 months of 2024, are very positive, and “ we believe that this year we will reach record numbers.”
