Greece and South Korea sign cultural collaboration memorandum

Culture Minister Lina Mendoni signed a Memorandum of understanding on cultural cooperation with Korea’s Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Yu In-Chon. During their meeting ministers highlighted the excellent political and diplomatic relations between Greece and Korea, ANA reports.

 According to a statement from the Ministry of Culture, the meeting also addressed the issue of the illegal trafficking of cultural goods, with both countries actively seeking the return of their unlawfully exported cultural treasures.

Mendoni proposed and her Korean counterpart agreed, to draft and ink a Memorandum of Understanding on preventing illegal trafficking of cultural goods, in line with UNESCO’s 1970 Convention, ratified by both nations.
