As young Greek entrepreneurs continue to move onward and upward, The Hellenic Initiative (THI) remains committed to assisting Hellenic startups when they need support the most – at the start. THI announced that applications are open for its 5th Annual Venture Impact Awards (VIA), designed to recognize and support companies that are thriving economically and ethically, succeeding commercially while also making a measurable positive impact on society and the future of Greece.
THI will host a special event in Athens by the end of December 2024 when the winners will be announced and a total of $100,000 in prizes will be distributed. Since its launch, the VIA program has awarded $805,000 in cash prizes to 49 outstanding teams. For the 5th consecutive year, THI will celebrate the achievements of Greece’s most talented and impactful teams, highlighting the ‘good’ done by emerging for-profit ventures.
For-profit companies can apply through this link: www.ventureimpactaward.com/application. The application deadline is October 20.
Founded in 2012, THI is a global non-profit organization that brings together Diaspora Greeks and Philhellenes to invest in Greece today through programs focused on economic development and crisis relief. Since its founding, THI has invested more than $22,7 million in Greece and is the largest Greek Diaspora organization in the world.
VIA winners will be again selected by a distinguished panel of judges. The awards will be based on a company’s potential to generate financial returns, as well as their demonstrated commitment to social, human, or environmental impact, along with fostering collaboration and promoting innovation.
VIA’s original anchor donors were the estate of Charles C. Condes and the Helidoni Foundation, and it complements THI programs like Envolve Greece, Venture Garden, the Athens Venture Fair, and Cyprus Seeds, which have worked with high-growth startups since 2012, helping them raise capital, be mentored by experienced executives, and expand into new markets.
Harriette Condes Zervakis, a representative of The Charles C. Condes Trust, stated: “Our beloved Uncle Charles had the vision of investing in the future of Greece through its young, gifted entrepreneurs. If they can build success in other countries, they should be supported in their efforts to succeed in their homeland.”
George P. Stamas, THI’s Board President, stated “We are proud to continue highlighting and supporting successful companies that demonstrate a strong sense of social responsibility and a commitment to positive change.”
THI’s Mission: Investing in the future of Greece through direct philanthropy and economic revitalization. THI empowers people to provide crisis relief, encourage entrepreneurs, and create jobs.
