Crete welcomes students from Spain: An educational and cultural bridge

In April, a special educational mission from Spain will visit Crete as part of the island’s tourism promotion. These are students and teachers from the IES RADIO EXTERIOR school in Alicante, which is “twinned” with the 3rd General Lyceum of Heraklion. Through this trip, the Spanish visitors will have the opportunity to experience Cretan hospitality, culture, gastronomy, and the natural beauties of the island, bringing back to their country the authentic experience of Crete.

During their stay, the Spanish students will discover the cultural wealth of the island, the local history, the traditions, and the customs that keep the Cretan identity alive. At the same time, they will taste the authentic flavors of the Cretan diet, known for its benefits, and explore the unique natural landscape that enchants visitors from all over the world.

An experience that travels Crete beyond its borders

The hospitality of this mission acquires a multiplier value for the promotion of the island, as the students and teachers become future ambassadors of Crete. Their experience will be transmitted through narratives, social networks, and personal recommendations (word of mouth), contributing to the strengthening of the island’s reputation as a tourist destination. At the same time, this visit can act as an incentive for future return trips of the visitors, either with their families or with friends, to explore even more of the cultural, gastronomic, and environmental heritage of Crete.

In this context, the Region of Crete supports the action by covering the costs of travel by tourist bus as well as a meal for up to 20 people, aiming to enhance tourism promotion in new markets. This specific mission constitutes an important opportunity to showcase Crete to an international audience, attracting more visitors and consolidating its position as a top destination with a unique cultural and natural identity.
