In one of the most authentic and isolated landscapes of Crete, in Agios Ioannis Sfakion, at an altitude of 1,200 meters, the “highest” cinema of this summer will be set up. On Saturday, July 12, the Cultural Association of Agios Ioannis Sfakion and the mobile cinema Nomad Cinema invite the audience to a special screening evening under the stars.
The Greek film “Digger” by George Grigorakis will be screened – a powerful cinematic work about the conflict between man and nature, resistance against the destruction of the place and the deep, personal relationship with the land.
The screening takes on particular importance in an era where mountains and forests are often treated as “untapped resources”. The film raises critical questions about the true meaning of “green development”, but also about the future of local communities that are called upon to defend their natural identity.
The event is open to the public, with free admission, and aspires to be a rare cultural experience amidst the silence and power of the mountainous landscape.
