Kassandra Festival 2025 | Tribute to Maria Callas: From the streets of Athytos to the Siviri Amphitheater

The Kassandra Festival 2025 honors with a double, special event the memory of Maria Callas, the ultimate opera diva, who shaped the musical and cultural identity not only of Greece but of the entire world.

In particular, from July 11 to 20, the Prologue exhibition is scheduled to take place on the streets of Athytos. The exhibition unfolds in the public spaces and alleys of the area, offering an experiential experience where art meets the history and soul of the place. In an era full of global challenges and conflicts, Maria Callas, the voice that unites worlds, resonates like a prayer for peace and unity, filling the aura of the area with emotion and cultural depth.

The tribute is not limited to music but highlights her very presence, through audiovisual media and personal items that will be exhibited in the Siviri Amphitheater, creating a mystical atmosphere for visitors.

A few days later, from July 18 to 20, the Siviri Amphitheater hosts the official, three-day museum exhibition “La Divina”, a tribute to the life and work of Callas on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of her birth. The exhibition presents personal items such as Maria Kalogeropoulou’s identity card, her first autograph, business card, jewelry, hats, and stage dresses, as well as rich photographic and archival material.

The exhibits come from the collection of Nikos Charalambopoulos, a collector with many years of experience in leading cultural events, who has provided the material with the aim of disseminating Callas’ legacy. Part of the collection has already been presented in major cultural venues such as the Athens Concert Hall and the Maria Callas Museum in Athens, while it was part of the premiere of the film “Maria” in Venice.

At the same time, the same venue will host the painting and sculpture exhibition of Lazaros Pantos, which frames the tribute with a creative, contemporary dialogue between opera and visual art.

With these two events, the Kassandra Festival turns the summer into a cultural celebration that honors a woman who knew no borders — a voice that remains alive and unites worlds.
