With an impressive avant-première, within the framework of the 12th International Conference on Innovative-Strategic Marketing and Tourism, the new tourist spot of the Pierian Tourism Development and Promotion Organization (P.O.T.A.P.) was presented on Sunday, September 28, at the theater of the “Agios Fotios” Cultural Center of the Holy Metropolis of Kitros, Katerini and Platamonas.
This is a special audiovisual work that combines the power of realistic video with the visual magic of 2D, 3D animation, highlighting Pieria through a modern, original and artistic approach.
The leading role is played by the digital version of the Muse Calliope, goddess of poetry and epic storytelling, who becomes the viewer’s imaginary guide to the riches of Pieria from the mysterious Olympus and the Pierian Mountains and the endless coasts, to its historical and cultural monuments.
Particular emphasis is given to the collaboration with the University of West Attica and the Department of Graphic Design and Visual Communication, which is an innovative example of connecting academic knowledge with tourist promotion. The artistic direction, design and development of the animation were undertaken by Professor Dr. Spyros Siakas together with his Scientific Associate Dr. Lambrini Trivella, who utilized modern 2D, 3D animation techniques in combination with live action, creating a result of high aesthetic value.
The script is written by screenwriter and educator Ms. Mata Kourti, who also presented the spot at the Conference, highlighting the way in which animation transforms the tourist narrative into an artistic journey that combines myth, history and fantasy.
The Deputy Governor of Pieria Ms. Sofia Mavridou, who supported the project from the very beginning, noted: “Our collaboration with the University of West Attica, the Department of Graphic Design and Professor Mr. Siakas brings new life to the tourism promotion of Pieria. With the creative power of animation, the culture and nature of our region are promoted internationally in an attractive, competitive and innovative way.”
The new tourist spot of P.O.T.A.P. aspires to be a reference point for modern tourism promotion, connecting tradition and myth with technology and academic research, and placing Pieria dynamically on the international tourism map.
