Piraeus: Call for the promotion and promotion of cultural routes

The Directorate for the Management of Integrated Spatial Investment (ISI)/Sustainable Urban Development (SUDD) Actions of the Municipality of Piraeus has issued a call for proposals entitled “Promotion, signage and promotion of cultural routes and points of interest in Piraeus”, within the framework of the “Attica” program. The public expenditure allocated amounts to 530,492 euros and is co-financed, aiming to strengthen and promote the city’s cultural heritage.

The action focuses on the development of an integrated network of cultural routes that will connect archaeological sites, museums, theaters, industrial and architectural monuments, historical railway facilities, religious monuments, as well as the port and the city’s central squares. The aim is to highlight the cultural heritage through the creation of a coordinated and easily accessible network, while protecting and sustainably managing it.

An important element of the call is the production of original multimedia content that will include interactive maps, videos, audio tours and augmented reality (AR) elements. These modern media will enrich the visitor experience, offering them new levels of interaction with the cultural heritage of Piraeus.

The program foresees the full integration of cultural routes into the city’s Destination Management System (DMS). The DMS is a central digital information and promotion platform that connects cultural actions with tourist services, creating an integrated digital ecosystem. Through this platform, visitors will have the opportunity to be dynamically informed about events, receive personalized suggestions and easily organize their visit.

In addition, the DMS events calendar is planned to be upgraded to allow users to register local events, which will be reviewed by administrators before publication. The calendar will support personalized notifications, strengthening the connection between visitors and cultural life.

An innovation is the development of an artificial intelligence digital assistant (bot), which will offer interactive information in multiple languages, answering questions about routes and events. At the same time, the “Trip Planner” tool will allow visitors to create personalized itineraries based on interests, time and events, offering a comprehensive tourist experience.

This initiative is expected to strengthen the role of culture and sustainable tourism in the economic development and social cohesion of the city of Piraeus, highlighting it as a modern, dynamic and attractive destination.

The submission of proposals remains open until January 1, 2029.
