UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay announced the appointment of four international personalities as Goodwill Ambassadors of the Organization, including Costanza Sbokou-Constantakopoulou from Greece, who will assume the role of Ambassador for the Protection and Promotion of Culture.
According to the relevant UNESCO announcement, the architect, entrepreneur and president of Endeavor Greece promotes the connection of creativity and innovation with sustainable development, contributing to the preservation of global cultural identity and supporting the Organization’s programs for the protection of cultural heritage.
She stated that “in this difficult time of global conflict and crisis, the need to protect our cultural heritage is more urgent than ever. As a Goodwill Ambassador, my goal is to support and promote respect for cultural wealth and human creativity, building bridges that unite people and pave the way for a more peaceful world.”
Alongside Smokou-Konstantakopoulou, Gael Garcia Bernal (Mexico), Ibrahim Magassa (Ivory Coast) and Sheikha Bundoora bint Sultan Al Qasimi (United Arab Emirates) were also appointed as new Goodwill Ambassadors.
Ms. Azoulay pointed out that “these individuals embody the diversity of talents and experience that enrich UNESCO’s work. With their influence, creativity and commitment, they will contribute to the dissemination of the Organization’s values to young people, researchers, artists and all those who shape the world of tomorrow.”
Multifaceted work and international presence
At this point, it should be emphasized that Costantza Sbokou-Constantakopoulou has over twenty years of experience in architecture, culture and education, with active participation in leading institutions in Greece and abroad.
She is co-owner and Executive President of Phāea Hotel Enterprises, head of the architectural design and procurement department of TEMES, the developer of Costa Navarino, while she serves as a member of the Administrative Committee of the Benaki Museum, of the Board of Directors of the of the National Archaeological Museum, ELIAMEP and the Captain Vasilis and Carmen Constantakopoulou Foundation (IKBKK).
At the same time, he participates in the Advisory Committee of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, in the Leadership Council of the Dean of the Graduate School of Design at Harvard and in the Board of Visitors of the Engineering School at Columbia University.
