UK tour operators and Brazilian travel show promote Crete

The Region of Crete hosted UK tour operators and Brazilian travel show to promote the island

The Tourism Directorate of the Region of Crete held hospitality events to promote the island’s tourism product in October. Specifically, within the framework of the tourism promotion program for 2025, the following actions were carried out:

Following a business meeting within the framework of the international tourism exhibition FITUR 2025 (Madrid) and the relevant positive recommendation of the Greek National Tourist Office of Spain, the Region of Crete hosted Mr. Igor Duarte, producer of the Brazilian travel show for families “Cris Pelo Mundo” from 14-21 October 2025. This travel show is aimed at a market consisting of 12 million households in Brazil, and is broadcast through Travel Box Brazil (one of the top 5 television channels in Brazil). Mr. Duarte visited Crete with his family in order to film an episode for the show. During their stay on the island, they visited traditional villages, archaeological sites, award-winning beaches, the Natural History Museum and the Aquarium of Crete, etc., and tasted Cretan cuisine, with Mr. Duarte leaving stating that the diverse Crete of authentic hospitality is his new favorite Greek island.

In collaboration with the Greek National Tourist Office UK & Ireland, Easyjet Holidays and the popular professional magazine TTG, the Region of Crete hosted eight British tour operators from 20-23 October 2025 as part of the TTG Sustainable Greece action. These leading tour operators had completed the TTG magazine sustainability program and had received the title of Sustainable Ambassador (TTG Sustainable Travel Heroes), while they were accompanied to Crete by the Deputy Head of the Greek National Tourism Organization Office in the UK & Ireland, Ms. Angela Tzifa, a TTG journalist, as well as sustainability executives from EasyJet Holidays. As part of their short visit to Crete, the guests were guided to the archaeological site of Knossos, visited a winery and an organic farm, tasted traditional Cretan cuisine and participated in experiences that support local communities, leaving enthusiastic about both the warm hospitality and the efforts of tourism organizations, entrepreneurs and the local community to develop a sustainable tourism model.

The Deputy Regional Governor of Tourism of the Region of Crete, Dr. Kyriakos Kotsoglou, stated in this regard: “If there is something that differentiates Cretan Tourism, it is hospitality, itself! Thus, one could say that every familiarization trip is for us a perfect simulation opportunity, a tangible example of what our visitors and our visitors’ customers will feel. Hospitable Crete is not a pillar of our Strategy because it is simply the definition of our destination, something through its DNA and self-evident in Crete, Everywhere!!”
