Wildfire on Thasos island partially under control after three days

The major fire that broke out on the island of Thasos three days ago appears to be partially under control. Over 250 firefighters have been deployed on the island, with the support of the Army and volunteers.

The Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras visited the island on Monday to survey the damages caused and announced that compensation will be paid out to those affected. He also announced that funding would go towards flood protection projects and reforestation.
