Greek journalists in all private, public and municipal media (print, broadcasting and internet) will hold a five-hour strike on Tuesday, October 25 from 11:00 until 16:00. The strike also includes the state broadcaster ERT, the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA), the Secretariat General for Information and Communication (GGEE) and press offices.
The work stoppage was decided by the Athens journalists’ union so that media-sector employees can attend a general meeting of their social insurance and healthcare fund EDOEAP, with the union urging a mass turnout and pointing out that, in the wake of new pensions legislation abolishing the advertising duty previously paid to EDOEAP, journalists are left effectively uninsured.
