Cyprus Larnaca police investigating attempted murder in Mazotos

A 27-year-old man has sustained severe stab wounds, after a 23-year-old attempted to murder him in Mazotos, Larnaca at 01:30, police said.

Specifically, police said that while the 23-year-old was out at a café in the village he attacked the 27-year-old, for unknown reasons.

The 23-year-old then left from the scene after other individuals stopped him from arguing with the 27-year-old.

The suspect then returned to the scene with his car, and hit a 20-eyar-old that was walking in the area.

Police said that the 23-year-old then exited his vehicle and moved towards the 27-year-old, who was standing outside a supermarket.

The suspect was holding a knife, which he then used to stab the 27-year-old twice, police said.

The 23-year-old then fled the scene.

The 20-year-old and 27-year-old were then taken to Larnaca General, to be treated for their injuries.

Due to the severity of his wounds the 27-year-old was transferred to Nicosia General, where he is being kept for further hospitalisation.

The 20-year-old sustained injuries to his thigh, police said.  After receiving care at Larnaca General he was released.
