Media: Greek Australian jet-setter accused in record drug bust

A jet-setting Adelaide DJ; who has rubbed shoulders with some of the world’s most famous stars, can be revealed as one of eight men charged over Australia’s biggest methamphetamine bust in Geraldton, last week.

The Facebook page of Christos Cafcakis — aka DJ Chris C — features numerous images of the 44-year-old posing alongside Hollywood A-listers such as Whoopi Goldberg and Ted Danson, as well as entertainers Gwen Stefani and Dave Grohl, and top-models Heidi Klum and Alessandra Ambrosio.

The pictures were taken in Los Angeles in 2012, when Mr Cafcakis was a guest at an Oscars night dinner held by singer Elton John to raise money for AIDS research.

Mr Cafcakis and seven of his co-accused, are facing Commonwealth charges that carry a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.

Police allege the eight men planned to smuggle more than 1.2 tonnes of meth into WA, which had a street value of over $1 billion.

The alleged plot came undone on Thursday, when police seized the drugs right after they arrived at the Geraldton marina.

Police claim the men — who are from South Australia and NSW — had bought a boat that last week travelled about 500km off the WA coast to meet up with a “mothership” that had transferred the drugs from South-East Asia.
