The Greek Association of Traditional Vessels expresses its disappointment at the continued destruction of traditional wooden fishing vessels due to subsidies by the European Union for the reduction of fishing licenses.
The Association reiterates its proposal for a change of use of fishing vessels to private or professional pleasure craft instead of destroying them, in order to preserve the naval heritage of Greece.
It notes that 46 million euros are allocated for the destruction rather than the preservation of the country’s naval heritage.
