Greek Health Ministry’s coronavirus spokesman and infectious diseases professor Sotiris Tsiodras on Thursday evening announced 71 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Greece in the last 24 hours and 4 new deaths, ANA reports.
This brings the country’s total to 892 confirmed infections and 26 deaths, with an average age of 73 years.
The number of Greek requests to leave their houses during the lockdown measures has ranged between 1.3 and 1.8 million per day from March 23, when the system was introduced through text messages, to March 26, authorities said.
People who want to leave their homes during the curfew for one of six reasons must send an SMS (text message) to 13033, free of charge, and receive a reply before venturing out with their cellphones and ID, otherwise, they risk a 150-euro fine. The reasons include pharmacy/doctor, supermarket or basic needs, bank, helping people in need, attending a funeral or outdoor exercise/walking a dog.
Greek companies producing pharmaceuticals and cosmetics will be able to produce antiseptics as well through an automated process, after the Greek Parliament’s unanimous approval of a legislative act by Development & Investments Minister Adonis Georgiadis on Thursday.
