Evros will be reinforced with 400 additional police officers in the coming days, especially in two critical points, Fera and Tychero, since according to the Minister of Defense, Nikos Panagiotopoulos, there is a plan of pressure on Greece from the Ankara side, int.ert.gr reports.
Meanwhile, Mr. Panagiotopoulos and Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias briefed the Greek Parliament’s Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee on Tuesday, on developments in Evros.
The demarcation of the new fence by the army was Turkey’s motive to try to prevent the work, the two ministers noted, while Mr. Panagiotopoulos denied the occupation of Greek territory and stressed that the borders are clearly demarcated and do not change.
Also, in an interview, the Minister of Defense pointed out that there are indications that the pressure on our borders will intensify and therefore we are taking measures so that there is not the slightest possibility of surprise.
