The Greek government is having successive meetings with infectious disease specialists regarding the course of the pandemic in the country, int.ert.gr reports.
According to yesterday’s numbers, Attica remains the region with the highest number of cases; as 194 of the 358 new infections were recorded there. Experts consider the next 10 days as very crucial and they do not rule out the implementation of stricter measures.
Yesterday, the National Public Health Organization (EODY) announced 358 new cases. Seventy-three (73) patients are intubated, while five more people have died, thus bringing the total number of victims, to 357.
The rise in admissions to the intensive care units due to Covid-19, is of deep concern for the specialists. At a meeting chaired by the Minister of Health, Vassilis Kikilias, it was decided to further increase the number of intensive care units and to convert general case units into special units for coronavirus patients.
At the same time, the Federation of Hospital Doctors’ Associations will rally today at 12:00, outside the Ministry of Health during the 24h strike due to “the tragic shortages in staff and infrastructure”.
