Belgian embassy in Athens delivers waffles, chocolates to Evangelismos hospital staff

The Embassy of Belgium delivered 2,000 waffles and 10 kilos of chocolate bites to staff at the Evangelismos Public Hospital on Wednesday, the embassy reported, as a token of appreciation, ΑΝΑ reports.

“This is only a symbolic gesture, to convey our respect and gratefulness to the healthcare workers,” noted Ambassador of Belgium to Greece Françoise Gustin. Referring to Greece’s historic anniversary of March 25, she added that “at the eve of the celebration of the Bicentenary, it seemed to us the right occasion, the healthcare workers are now fighting for people’s lives”.

As she also noted, it was also the 140th anniversary of the laying of the foundation stone that led to Evangelismos becoming “a real healthcare reference center.”
