A circular of the Interior Ministry outlines how civil services will operate during a heatwave forecast in Greece from Tuesday through Thursday by the National Meteorological Service, ANA reports.
Following a related meeting with the General Secretariat of Civil Protection, civil servants who belong to vulnerable groups may work from home. If that is not feasible, they may stay away from work with special permission. Vulnerable group members must be able to prove their need to stay home through employer records or a doctor affiliated with their workplace.
Civil servants who do not belong to vulnerable groups may also work from home. Wherever that is not feasible, the arrival and departure times to and from work should be flexible, especially for staff whose duties involve working outdoors. It is advisable to avoid the height of the heatwave, from 12:00 to 17:00.
