Traffic restored on new Greek national highway leading to Corinth after truck explosion

Traffic was restored early on Monday morning on all lanes of the New Athens-Corinth National Highway side leading to Corinth, following a serious truck accident at the bridge of the Old National Highway near the Isthmus on Friday night, ANA reports.

On that night, a truck overturned burst into flames, and exploded, damaging the bridge severely and requiring its demolition. Traffic toward Corinth was redirected by police, while the driver was hospitalized.

An emergency call by the Infrastructure Ministry to concessionaire Olympia Odos brought out emergency crews from its partners Aktor and Avax, who restored traffic in 48 hours on a weekend when traffic was expected to be heavier due to travel related to the European elections.
