Adverse weather conditions prevail across Greece

Severe weather conditions have been affecting Greece since Sunday while the phenomena are intense mostly in western, central, and northern Greece with snowfall, rainstorms, and strong winds, ANA reports.
The state mechanism is on alert to address possible problems provoked by the adverse weather conditions while according to the National Meteorological Service, the weather will gradually improve as of Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the municipality of Karditsa decided schools to close at 11.00 on Monday due to the snowfall in the mountainous and semi-mountainous areas of the region while closed will remain many schools in the regions of eastern Macedonia, in Serres and Xanthi.
Snow chains are necessary in many parts of the country while traffic was suspended on Athens-Thiva old national road at Vilia intersection due to snowfall in the area.
