Accessible tourism on the beaches of the Municipality of Agios Vasilios, Crete

The Minister of Tourism, Ms. Olga Kefalogianni, approved today the support of the investment plan entitled “COMPLETED INTERVENTION FOR DISABLED PEOPLE ON THE BLUE FLAG BEACHES OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF AGIOS VASILIOS, CRETE (SOUDA PLAKIA, RODAKINO, PLAKIAS AGIA GALINI)”

The approved funding for the project amounts to a total of €131,650.00 and includes:

* Safe sliding system for access to the sea for special groups of users – disabled people & quadriplegics
* Non-permanent support facilities (Disabled changing rooms, portable sanitary areas, corridors for transporting equipment)
* Telemetry & alarm system
* Windbreaks
* Special accessible beach signage
* Other equipment (Sun loungers, tables under conditions of signage and use exclusively by disabled people)

The inclusion of the project in the Development and Resilience Fund is approved within the framework of the Ministry of Tourism’s program to highlight Greece as an accessible and hospitable destination for all travelers without exception. Inclusion is a key component of responsible and sustainable tourism development, enhancing the diversification and competitiveness of the country’s tourism product.
