Municipality of Thira: Santorini is completely safe – No concerns about the incident in Imerovigli
Regarding the landslide incident that occurred last Sunday on the slopes of Imerovigli, the Municipality of Thira informs that there is no danger for residents and visitors.
As indicated by the competent services, this is a natural phenomenon related to the geological morphology of Santorini and is not linked to human activities, as no construction work is being carried out in the area – something that is explicitly prohibited during the tourist season.
To protect the man-made environment, the municipality has already taken protective measures such as fences, networks and technical interventions, while additional works are planned for specific points, according to the Joint Ministerial Decision issued after the February earthquakes.
“Although incidents of this type may cause a stir, they rarely pose an immediate danger,” emphasizes the municipality of Thira, categorically denying any misleading report that distorts reality.
