An initiative with a profound pedagogical and social impact is taking place in the Municipality of Elliniko-Argyroupoli, as the 2nd High School of Elliniko announces the sending of a delegation of students and teachers to the inaccessible island of Sikinos. The mission is under the auspices of the Municipality of Elliniko-Argyroupoli and aims to participate in the official celebrations of the National Anniversary of October 28th, strengthening ties with the border school community.
The Reason: From the 1st Panhellenic Award to Social Action
The idea for the creation of this bridge was born through academic excellence and the exchange of good practices in a recent Panhellenic student short film creation competition.
The 2nd High School of Elliniko received the 1st Panhellenic Award in the Panhellenic Student Competition for the creation of a short film on the theme: “Orthodoxy and Hellenism in Cyprus – 50 years since the film Turkish invasion”.
The High School of Sikinos (a school with three (3) students) received a significant honorable mention in the same competition.
This success highlighted the need for direct communication and practical solidarity between the two schools. The upcoming mission is not a simple excursion, but an Educational Action of Solidarity and Cultural Exchange. The students will actively participate:
In the School Festival, the Parade and the official events of October 28.
In Cross-curricular Activities and joint lessons with the students of Sikinos.
In offering personal gifts to the few students on the island, symbolizing unity and support.
