Municipality of Elliniko-Argyroupoli: Support for 500 families with Christmas “love packages”

In a period when social needs are increasing, the Municipality of Elliniko-Argyroupoli is proceeding with this year’s Christmas action to support vulnerable citizens, through a broad collaboration with businesses and organizations that offer goods for the “love packages – meals”. The Municipal Committee unanimously approved the acceptance of the donations and put into effect the institutional mechanism required for their formation and distribution.

As stated in the decision, these packages will be delivered to approximately 500 families belonging to vulnerable and vulnerable groups, covering a total of over 2,000 meals and parcels. The distribution will be done discreetly, following the advice of the Municipality’s social workers, so that the personal data of the beneficiaries is fully protected.

The action is supported by five companies and legal entities, ELLINIKO MAE, Ioniki Xenodocheiaki SA, DKG Development SA, DMELIA EPE and Aigeas AMKE, which have undertaken to contribute food items and gifts, which will form the core of the packages.

In this context, a three-member committee is being formed, which undertakes to designate the most appropriate body for the collection and composition of the packages, ensuring that the process will be carried out in accordance with the terms of the law and with full supervision by the Municipality.

The above decision reflects a broader effort by the local government to activate market forces to support socially vulnerable citizens. In the festive atmosphere, this collaboration also takes on a symbolic tone, as it connects the business community with a solidarity initiative that strengthens the city’s social cohesion.

At the same time, the initiative highlights the role played by the Social Services Directorates at the local administration level, both in identifying and mapping needs and in ensuring that support actually reaches those who need it. Caring for these groups, from families in difficulty to beneficiaries of church meals, is listed as a priority in the Municipality’s overall social policy.

Thus, this year’s action is not only a seasonal offering, but a coordinated collaboration between the Municipality, businesses and social structures, with the aim of ensuring that no household is left without practical support during Christmas.
