Maroussi: New album highlights the city's modern architectural identity

The Municipality of Maroussi is proceeding with the publication of the album “Maroussi, Aspects of the Modern City. The New Architecture”, a publication dedicated to the modern architectural creation that shapes the city’s physiognomy and highlights its dynamics in the urban landscape.

From tradition to modern identity

The initiative is part of the overall strategy of the Municipal Authority for the promotion of the history, culture and architectural heritage of Maroussi. In the urban fabric of the city, samples of an architectural journey can be found that extends from historical buildings – carriers of memory and cultural continuity – to new projects that reflect the trends of modern Greek architecture.

22 projects – landmarks of the new architecture

Within the framework of the program “Maroussi, Aspects of the Modern City. The New Architecture”, 22 buildings with an emblematic or pioneering character were selected, which were photographed by photographers of the city. Many of these projects bear the signature of internationally recognized Greek architects, who contributed decisively to the formation of the new architectural physiognomy of Maroussi. The photographs, accompanied by explanatory texts provided by collaborating architectural firms, will constitute the content of the new photo album.

Cultural capital and tool for extroversion

This publication complements the previous project of the Municipality, “Historic Buildings in Maroussi. A Journey through the City’s Architectural Tradition”, now constituting a double volume of cultural publications that highlight the continuity between the historical and modern urban landscape. New Architecture is considered a cultural capital for Maroussi, as it functions as a tool for promotion, inspiration and urban identity, reinforcing the city’s extroversion and its position as a center of modern architectural reference.

Free distribution to the public and to institutional bodies

The albums will be made available free of charge by the Municipality to citizens, teachers, school libraries, associations, official bodies in Greece and abroad, as well as to foreign visitors and guests of the city. Through this initiative, Maroussi seeks to strengthen its “brand name” as a modern, vibrant city that combines culture, aesthetics and architectural evolution.
