The Municipality of Athens celebrates Spring this year again, with a big festival, for an entire month, from May 1 to June 1, throughout the city with music, art, exhibitions, gastronomy, and outdoor activities!
The Athens Municipality Festival, organized by the Athens Development Corporation S.A., comes to “illuminate” every neighborhood, highlighting the modern face of Athens, which is bursting with culture and entertainment.
In his statement, the Mayor of Athens, Haris Doukas, emphasizes: “The Athens Municipality Festival is being renewed and spread throughout the city, inviting us, all of us, to experience spring in Athens with joy and creativity. This May, the capital is transformed into an open cultural stage, where the protagonists are all of us, residents and visitors. We will discover new parts of it and become part of the great celebration in a city where culture is not a luxury but an everyday experience for everyone. We invite you to celebrate with all of us this May in Athens!
For his part, the CEO of Development Athens S.A., Ioannis Georgizas, notes: “In this great festival, our city highlights its vitality, creativity, and extroversion! We collaborated with all the important cultural institutions to achieve a dynamic result this year as well. Our goal is to offer a high-quality program and to strengthen the contact of Athenians with their city and culture. Athens, through this organization, becomes a place of inspiration and participation.”
A Festival that spreads to all 129 neighborhoods of the city
More than 200 events will fill the neighborhoods, streets, pedestrian areas, and squares of Athens this year with concerts, street parties, themed tours, outdoor activities and dance and cinema performances, walks, visits to museums, exhibitions, children’s activities, exercise in nature, and storytellers. Each event has been designed with originality, quality, and high aesthetics in mind, addressing all generations and covering all preferences.
The activities will be accessible to all, and through each small and large event, sustainability and respect for the environment will be promoted.
The first appointment is given on May Day with an all-day celebration in the park of the Plato Academy, designed for the whole family.
