Greece won important distinctions for another year at the annual Leisure Lifestyle Awards, organized by the leading American travel magazine “Global Traveler” of the publishing company FXExpress Publications, a fact that confirms that our country remains consistently one of the most popular European destinations in the American tourist market.
Specifically, in this year’s 13th edition of the awards, Greece emerged as the winner for the fourth consecutive year in the category “Best Historical Attractions, International”.
At the same time, Santorini took first place for the twelfth consecutive time in the category “Best Island in Europe”.
“High-value awards”
The Leisure Lifestyle Awards recognize the best leisure travel experiences around the world, with winners selected following an open survey conducted among the magazine’s readers. The survey for this year’s awards was conducted from September 20, 2024, to January 30, 202,5, and covered a total of 67 categories of leisure, luxury, and lifestyle travel.
The nearly 550,000 readers of “Global Traveler” have high incomes, and 50% of them are business owners or senior executives. They take an average of 18 domestic flights each year, and 93% of them travel abroad regularly, having made 18 trips in the last three years, mainly in first and business class. Also, more than 80% stay in 4 and 5-star hotels, with an average of 210 nights per year.
“Our readers know the best in the travel industry, so these distinctions are highly valued,” said FXExpress Publications publisher and CEO Francis X. Gallagher, on the occasion of the announcement of this year’s awards.
The awards ceremony will take place on May 22 in Miami, while Greece will be represented by the head of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) North America Service, Konstantinos Charokopos.
