A meeting of high mutual interest was held by the President of the Federation of Hellenic Associations of Travel & Tourism Agencies (FedHATTA), Mr. Lysandros Tsilidis, with a delegation from the Guizhou province of the People’s Republic of China, with the aim of strengthening cooperation in the tourism sector.
The meeting focused on exploring ways of mutual tourism development, by encouraging Chinese travelers to get to know Greece, but also by promoting tourist packages for Greek travelers to the province of Guizhou, an emerging Chinese destination with particular natural beauty and modern infrastructure.
Guizhou Province is a promising tourist destination in Southwest China, offering a combination of natural attractions, culture and modern lifestyle, characteristics that meet the requirements of a large portion of travelers.
During the meeting, the need to develop cooperation between the tourist offices of the two regions was emphasized, proposals for thematic tourism (nature, culture, gastronomy, educational trips) were examined, the exchange of travel information was agreed upon and it was decided to create a common framework for a communication strategy to be defined at a subsequent meeting.
Particular emphasis was placed on the key role played by travel agencies as key pillars of interconnection and facilitation of tourist flows between Greece and China. Through their specialization, know-how, and the ability to tailor offers, travel agencies are crucial factors in the development of sustainable and quality visitor flows.
The President of FedHATTA, Mr. Lysandros Tsilidis, stated: “China is a market of strategic importance for Greek tourism, with great potential for expanding the tourist flow. With meetings such as this one with the Guizhou province, we are laying the foundations for substantial collaborations and highlighting the key role of tourist offices as a bridge of culture and economic prosperity. FedHATTA will continue to support initiatives that enhance extroversion and the qualitative and sustainable development of Greek tourism.”
