The need for a long-term development policy, strengthening of infrastructure and substantial synergies between agencies emerged as the main issue for the sustainable tourism development of the Argosaronic islands, during the event of the Athens, Attica and Argosaronic Hoteliers Association (EXA) held on April 30 in Poros, within the framework of the East Med Multihull Yacht Charter Show (EMMYS 2025).
At the event entitled “New Technologies in Hospitality and Tourism”, EXA, in collaboration with the Tourism Development Committee of the Municipality of Poros and EPEST, presented innovative solutions from seven startups of the CapsuleT Travel & Hospitality Accelerator of the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels. At the same time, a public debate was opened with the participation of hoteliers, professionals and local bodies, on the challenges and prospects of the islands of the Argosaronic Gulf.
The President of EXA, Mr. Evgenios Vassilikos, stressed the need to promote the islands as “islands of Athens”, aiming to capitalize on the international recognition of the capital. As he underlined, in 2025 – the year of EXA’s 80th anniversary – specialized promotional actions are being launched for the islands of the Argosaronic Gulf, with the aim of forming a single tourist destination.
The event was attended by, among others, Mr. Dimitris Fragakis, President of Nea Metropolitan Attica S.A., Antonis Stelliatos, President of EPEST, and representatives of the local government and businesses of Poros, such as the mayor, Mr. Giorgos Koutouzis. All referred to the need to strengthen international recognition, local production, and infrastructure, while particular concern was expressed about the expansion of fish farms, weak coastal ferry connections and understaffing of health facilities.

The Director of CapsuleT, Ms. Katerina Saridaki, presented the startups that participated, with solutions ranging from smart booking systems and virtual tours, to transportation services and digital gratuities.
The event closed with a traditional “treat”, offered by local businesses, with the participation of “Panorama Cafe”, the “Glykisma” & “Dangli” pastry shops, the “Lemonodasos” natural juices, and with the hospitality sponsor New Aegli Resort Hotel.
