A columnist’s familiarization trip to three Greek islands, Evia, Santorini, and Folegandros, is scheduled to take place from May 13 to 21.
Among other things, the familiarization trip is organized by the Greek National Tourist Office for the United Kingdom and Ireland in collaboration with the British media outlet Inews.
In particular, the Greek islands will be visited by Mr. James Litston, a regular columnist for Greece, who collaborates with reputable British media outlets such as The Times, The Independent, and The Telegraph.
The journalist will first visit Evia with the aim of introducing the island to the British public, showcasing its gastronomy, natural beauty, and wellness tourism through a special feature entitled “Evia: is this Greece’s most relaxing island?”
Then, Mr. Litston will travel to the Cyclades and specifically to Santorini, with the aim of restoring the island’s image as an attractive and safe tourist destination, after the intense seismic activity that recently afflicted the island, as well as Folegandros, with the aim of promoting the island as an ideal holiday destination.
The full-page article will be published in the summer in the print and online editions of The I newspaper. The print edition of the newspaper, which is published every day except Sunday, has a circulation of 221,000 copies and reaches 734,000 readers daily.
However, Mr. Litston will also collect further material from the other destinations he will visit for the writing of a future article, for publication in other British media.
This trip is part of the GNTO’s strategy to enhance the image of popular destinations such as Santorini, but also to highlight lesser-known islands, such as Evia and Folegandros, with the aim of attracting quality tourism from the British market.
