The curtain rose on the Sani Festival 2025 with an exhilarating, sold-out concert full of rhythm, emotion, and authenticity. The iconic Buena Vista All Stars from Havana brought the essence of Cuban musical tradition to Sani Hill, delivering a unique experience that left a lasting impression on the audience.
The festival’s opening coincided with July’s first full moon, adding a magical dimension to the evening, as the stage was bathed in moonlight and the sounds of the Caribbean. Hundreds of spectators from Greece and abroad filled the historic Sani Hill, once again highlighting the international appeal of the Sani Festival.

Led by two founding members of the legendary Buena Vista Social Club — Barbarito Torres and Demetrio Muñiz — and joined by 11 other top Cuban musicians and dancers, the band presented the show “One Night in Havana”, as part of their world tour. The stage came alive with the colors and sounds of Cuba, featuring beloved songs like “Chan Chan”, “Ay Candela”, “Quizás, quizás, quizás”, and “El Cuarto de Tula”, thrilling audiences of all ages.
“I love the sea, and I love this place,” said an emotional Demetrio Muñiz about Halkidiki. “The weather in Greece is similar to ours. It’s sunny, it’s not cold, and we’re close to the sea. I was born on an island, and I love that.”
In front of the emerald waters of the Aegean, the audience welcomed the legendary band last Saturday with enthusiastic applause, dancing, and emotion—proving once again that music remains the universal language of connection, joy, and culture.
