The procedures are progressing for the implementation of the Program Agreement concerning the organization of the Ionian Islands Philharmonic Festival 2025, between the Ministry of Culture, the Region of the Ionian Islands and the Development Company Ionia Anaptihis, with an estimated budget of 200,000 euros.
The subject of the agreement is the planning, preparation and implementation of cultural and artistic actions that are part of the Festival, which is scheduled to take place in the city of Corfu, from September 12 to 14.
The festival will include the participation of philharmonics from all the Regional Units of the Ionian Islands, as well as at least three recognized musical ensembles from abroad, with the possibility of participation of other groups. The organization aims to highlight the cultural characteristics of the region, but also to connect the local musical potential with the international artistic map.
Three days of events – A festival that aspires to become an institution
The first day includes musical performances in the historic center of Corfu’s Old Town, with the participation of approximately 20 Ionian philharmonics. Musical ensembles – brass, woodwind and percussion – will be presented in selected locations around the city, creating a network of sounds and colors lasting eight hours.
On the second day, the audience will watch a parade of musical groups through the city’s main streets, ending at the Ano Plateia park, a spot with a deep concert history. There, each philharmonic will present a short musical program, before departing through the city.
The third day culminates with an impressive show in the Lower Square, with a specially designed space (970-seat grandstand, modern lighting, video wall, directorial supervision). The philharmonics will collaborate in a festive finale with a pre-determined repertoire under the artistic director of the festival, while the event will close with an aerial drone show.
The Philharmonic Festival aspires to be a new, dynamic institution for the Ionian Islands Region, highlighting its cultural identity and strengthening its tourist and artistic footprint.
