Ecotourism Festival at Lake Stefaniada

At the youngest natural lake in Greece, Stefaniada, in the region of Eastern Argithea in Thessaly, nature and culture meet for the second consecutive year at the Stefaniada Lake Festival, from August 7 to 10, 2025. With free admission and a rich program of activities, the festival invites residents, travelers and nature lovers of all ages to an experiential experience that combines recreation, education and ecological awareness.

The festival program includes:

Free outdoor activities: kayaking on the lake, hiking on the trails of the area, archery and horseback riding in nature,
Workshops & independent activities: herbal therapy, yoga, energy flow, reflexology, landscape photography, as well as a theatrical performance (“Lemon”) and cooking classes in nature with local products.
Cultural events: outdoor concerts by GondWana Lost and Kostas Makedonas (as part of the Lakes Festival), puppet show (“Poultsinella and the Dog”), open-air cinema and night sky observation on the occasion of the “Oxyrhynchos Full Moon”.
Lectures & seminars: on the protection of Agrafa, action for wildlife, composting, beekeeping, the demographic issue and the sustainability of the area.
Extra event: On August 11, the Hot Air Balloon Music Party will take place, a unique party with music and views from above – also with free participation.
Free Camping: The area hosts tents and mobile homes, offering visitors the opportunity to stay next to the lake, in a natural sanctuary of tranquility and rejuvenation.
The festival is organized by the Agrafa Heritage NGO, in collaboration with the Municipality of Argithea, the Region of Thessaly – Karditsa Regional Municipality and the Finix Adventures tourist agency.

The goal of the Stefaniada Lake Festival is to develop into an institution for returning people to nature – an occasion for sports, discovery, experiential education and environmental awareness. Stefaniada, in the geographical center of Greece, becomes a place of meeting and reflection on desertification, the difficult daily life of the inhabitants, the demographic and ecological challenges that threaten Agrafa.

“If you learn and love a place, you will want to protect it” is the motto of the organizers. In this context, information kiosks will operate all days.
