An impressive Christmas project is underway in Katerini, as a theme park is being created in the Park of Colors, as part of the Municipality’s festive events for the Christmas and New Year period 2025–26.
The city is preparing to transform into a magical world inspired by sweets, fairy tales and Christmas magic, with the central theme being “Sweet Christmas”, the point where, according to the concept, Santa Claus will make his first stop this year.
Specifically, the theme park is expected to spread throughout the Park of Colors, creating a complete experience of exploring a “sweet” world. Upon entering, children will receive a special map with all the action stations, collecting stamps until they obtain the “elf-pastry chef diploma”. From the very first moment, young visitors will get into the mood, as they begin their journey from the Sugar Post Office, where they write their letter and entrust it to the “elf-postman” to take its way, through the special letter transport tube that activates the action.
As visitors proceed, they encounter the Sugar House of the Elves, one of the most popular stations. The “Plathos Cookies” workshop takes place there daily, where children learn Santa Claus’ secret recipe in a setting reminiscent of a fairy-tale pastry shop. Then, in the Musical Sugar Plum Fairy, the magic mirror narrates the first act of the Christmas story and presents well-known melodies from classic fairy tales, creating a more theatrical experience.
Santa’s beloved reindeer will also be in the park, as a photo spot for young and old. Next comes the “Candy Box”, a huge box-set full of surprises and memory games themed around Santa’s favorite sweets, while visitors are invited to help… sort out all the candies that have “got mixed up”.
One of the most impressive points of the route is expected to be the Flying Elevator: an installation-ride that takes visitors inside “Santa’s House”. There, the setting is completed with festive decorations and a Christmas table, creating another opportunity for interactive storytelling and commemorative photos.
At the same time, the Chocolate Workshop is operating, where visitors take photos with the elves-pastry chefs, and the Badge Workshop, from which children leave with the “decoration of the elf-pastry chef”, making their own festive souvenir.
The theme park is completed with the Elves’ Stage, where interactive performances, musical events and Christmas stories will take place throughout its operation, enriching the program with daily entertainment activities.
With this project, the Municipality of Katerini is moving forward with the creation of a comprehensive Christmas-themed destination, which aspires to attract families from all over the region, boosting visitor numbers and the local economy in the heart of the festive season.
