Run the Lake Vouliagmeni: Vouliagmeni Welcomes the Popular Road Race for the 11th Consecutive Year

The event “Run the Lake Vouliagmeni” returns this year for its 11th edition, reaffirming its status as one of the most important athletic institutions of the Southern Suburbs.

The race has evolved into a landmark event for both experienced and novice runners, as it goes beyond a typical road route and promotes a running culture centered on exercise, health, social connection, and enjoyment. At the same time, from its first year until today, it has maintained a strong social character, with part of its proceeds being donated to organizations and initiatives that support people in need and community-focused actions.

On Sunday, December 21, thousands of runners of all ages are expected to gather in Vouliagmeni, taking part in another edition of an event long established as a celebration of sports. The day will include races for all age categories, in an atmosphere combining energy, excitement, and the unique scenery of the coastal zone at the end of the year.

To ensure smooth organization and maximum safety for participants, this year’s program includes 5 km and 10 km routes, as well as 1 km children’s races, offering everyone the opportunity to participate—from seasoned runners to families eager to enjoy the experience together. The event actively supports inclusion, ensuring that people with disabilities can also take part with joy, further strengthening the social dimension of the institution.

Beyond its athletic and social impact, Run the Lake Vouliagmeni is an important promotional vehicle for the area. Held outside the peak tourist season, it is expected to attract visitors and supporters, boosting the local economy and showcasing the Municipality of Vari Voula Vouliagmeni as a destination that invests in sports and high-level events. It is widely recognized that hosting such races significantly contributes to promoting a region and establishing it on the map of major sporting events.

The race is organized in collaboration with the Southern Suburbs of Attica Runners Association “EUKLIS,” which supports the event each year with consistency and expertise.
