Green Evolution’s founder Dr Ioannis Pappas announced first to GSTC members the release of the GSTC Industry Criteria. These have been under development for most of 2016, led by its International Standards Working Group.
To review, “GSTC Industry” was created based on these goals and concepts:
1 – These Criteria serve as the 3rd revision to GSTC Hotel & Tour Operator Criteria, and for that reason you will see “version 3” in their formal name.
2 – To distinguish the Hotel Criteria and the Tour Operators Criteria from each other. Now we have separate Performance Indicators for Hotels and for Tour Operators, but the two share the same set of Criteria.
3 – To create a private sector “umbrella” set of Criteria which can be applied to any future subsector-specific Criteria. For examples, in the future, we might consider creation of Criteria/Indicators for subsectors such as attractions, cruise, MICE, transport, etc. to compliment our existing Criteria for hotels, tour operators, and destinations.
Over the coming weeks Green Evolution will work to revise the various versions that have been translated into many languages and to incorporate the revised Industry Criteria throughout our programmes and activities.
Please update any of your own internal references to the GSTC Criteria to reflect the replacement of the Hotel & Tour Operator Criteria with the Industry Criteria.
You will find this Revision Report helpful, as it highlights the main changes made from the H&TOv2 Criteria to the Industry Criteria.
Green Evolution will begin immediately to release this information publicly, following this bulletin to its members and encourages all GSTC members to engage in the process of Criteria revision. To ensure involvement in the 2017 revision of the Destination Criteria, please sign up here.
