Waste management projects will create 16,000 jobs in Greece

Socrates Famellos, Deputy Environment Minister and Alexis Charitsis, Deputy Minister of Economy and Development, announced in a joint press conference recently that a billion euros will be allocated for waste management in Greece, 877 million of which, to household waste management.

The remaining resources will de channeled to the management of industrial and hazardous waste, as well as industrial facilities and rehabilitation of contaminated sites.

Mr Famellos noted that the projects are expected to create 16,000 new jobs while Mr. Charitsis stressed that the total resources available for this purpose have been secured.
