New Minister to support farmers and protect the environment in Greece

Greek proposals for the EU’s 2021-2017 Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) program will focus on supporting farmers rural communities, as well as protecting the environment, Deputy Agricultural Development & Food Minister for CAP Kostas Skrekas told Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA) on Thursday.

Speaking to ANA’s Praktoreio 104.9 FM station, Skrekas pointed out that Greece annually receives 2.5 billion euros from the EU for improvements in agricultural production or investments related to processing farm products. The government, he said, plans to “support the farmer and rural Greece so that people may remain in villages and run cultivations there.”
